Advent Book Study Course

The Diocesan Lay Training team is running a four-week long Advent book study course focusing on Bishop Nick Baines' new book 'Freedom is Coming: From Advent to Epiphany with the prophet Isaiah'.

The course will be taking place online via Zoom during the Advent season. The course will run across four online sessions on Wednesday evenings between 25th November - 16th December at 7.00pm - 9.00pm.

While you will be encouraged to read the book in your own time during Advent the course will provide an opportunity to build on, learn more, and discuss the contents of the book in greater depth. Ideally participants will purchase or have access to the book in advance of the first session and will read the book in parallel to the course.

You can find out more information about the book and register a place for free on Learning Leeds

Comfort and Joy.

Comfort and Joy

Comfort and Joy holds together the hope that Christmas will bring joy and celebration after a uniquely difficult year with an acknowledgement that – for those who have lost loved ones or livelihoods, or who are potentially still not able to be together with loved ones – it may be the Church’s role, both nationally and locally, to provide consolation, rather than assume everyone will be ready to join in jubilation.

You can find out more about the Church of England's 'Comfort and Joy' campaign on their website.
